As part of the “Promoting Energy Efficiency in Supporting and Food Processing Industries in Vietnam” project funded by UNOPS, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in collaboration with the Vietnam Technology Solutions Joint Stock Company (VETS), organized a consultation workshop titled “ESCO Business Model and Implementation Potential in Vietnam” on May 29, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, with support from the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP).
The workshop gathered nearly 50 participants from ESCO companies, financial institutions, research organizations, government agencies, and technical service providers.
Key topics included:
Overview of the ESCO business model, global energy consumption trends, and development opportunities in Vietnam’s energy market;
Assessment of the potential for applying the ESCO model in supporting and food processing industries based on international experiences and Vietnam’s context;
Discussions on the necessity of establishing an ESCO Association to foster market development, regulatory support, and capacity building for businesses.

Presentations were delivered by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hiep, Chairman of the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA), and Mr. Ma Van Dong, energy expert, offering practical insights and clear development directions.
The workshop created valuable networking opportunities, connecting enterprises, technical experts, and financial institutions to jointly promote the ESCO model as an effective tool for energy transition, cost savings, and greenhouse gas emission reduction in Vietnam.
